Highlights

As part of the New York City Coalition Against Hunger’s 5th Annual Martin Luther King, Jr., Serve-A-Thon, New Yorkers from across the city commemorated Dr. King’s legacy by taking a “day on, not a day off” and donated their services and funds to emergency food programs in all five boroughs.

Taking to heart Dr. King’s words, “everybody can be great, because everybody can serve,” volunteers showed up at food pantries and soup kitchens to honor the 40th anniversary of Dr. King’s assassination during the three day Serve-A-Thon. The Coalition has been sponsoring the MLK Serve-A-Thon for the last five years to honor Dr. King’s commitment to poverty issues as well as social rights.
