The experience is hands-on, challenging, and ultimately deeply rewarding and enriching. As an AmeriCorps member, you will likely have the opportunity to work on a day-to-day basis with the people whom you are serving. The work is varied.
Qualifications
Applicants must be responsible self-starters with a commitment to public service. Basic computer/internet skills are required, as are effective writing and communications skills. Previous volunteer, non-profit, or food/agriculture experience is a plus. English is required; Spanish is a plus. Travel to diverse neighborhoods is required for this position.
Benefits
In addition to a stipend, AmeriCorps members receive an education award - which may be used to pay off loans or current/future schooling - of $4,725 for full-time work and $1,800 for part-time work. Full-time members also receive health insurance. All members receive an experience vital for success in the non-profit sector.
