Public Employees Union: Food Stamp Crisis Growing Hunger-Shredded Safety Net

DC 37 - New York City's largest public employee union - recently produced a vivid worker-side account of the food stamps crisis at city offices.

The report, published in this month's Public Employee Press, details the significant challenges faced at over-crowded, under-staffed food stamps centers throughout the five boroughs.

MLK Serve-A-Thon Media Coverage: CBS, NY 1, WNYC & El Diario

The 9th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Serve-A-Thon brought out hundreds of volunteers yesterday to celebrate the legacy of Dr. King through community service activities.

Organized by the New York City Coalition Against Hunger, Serve-A-Thon events included Breakfast in the Classroom outreach, public art projects, food stamps screenings and enrollment assistance at supermarkets, and general-improvement efforts at emergency food programs throughout the five boroughs.
